Will you own the stone, or will the stone own you?

Every stone looks perfect in the showroom under studio lighting. But stone doesn’t live in a showroom. It lives with red wine, lemon juice, olive oil, and muddy shoes.

We developed the Maintenance Reality Score (MRS) to strip away the marketing fluff. We evaluate natural stones based on four brutal metrics:

1. Chemical Sensitivity: Does a drop of lemon juice destroy the finish instantly?
2. Porosity: How fast does it drink your coffee spill?
3. Scratch Resistance: Can it handle a cast-iron pan?
4. The “Fuss” Factor: How often do you need to call a pro?

Score Guide:

• 0 – 4: The Diva. Stunning but exhausting. Requires constant vigilance.
• 5 – 7: The Human. Needs care, develops a patina, ages with you.
• 8 – 10: The Tank. Indestructible. Install it and forget it.
